Our History
In 1963, ten women started the Mercer Island Welcome Wagon, dedicated to welcoming families who had just moved to the Island. The group flourished and increased in membership. In 1981, when Ellen Sellin began her year as President, the club name was changed to Mercer Island Women’s Club and membership was opened to all women living on the Island.
Today, the Club continues to welcome women to this fulfilling social and civic organization. Over three hundred and fifty enthusiastic women of all ages enjoy a variety of activities tailored to the interests of the current membership. Whether you are single or married, have free time during the day or in the evening, there are activities for you.
Civic Projects
The MIWC supports several Mercer Island charities. Funds are raised by an annual bake/pantry sale, raffles, and personal contributions. We also collect items to distribute to those in need. Several service projects are scheduled throughout the year. For further information, please email: civics@mercerislandwomensclub.com
